be evil! / halloween 2011 / accessories and inspiration / part i

This year for Halloween I will become a young, goth-inspired, sexy and dark, satan-worshipping vampire! (While my boyfriend will be my maker, the King Vampire.)

I have purchased dozens of necklaces, a mask, lace gloves, and plenty of rings for this special occasion. Halloween's always been my favourite time of the year. My boyfriend and I had been dressing up for five consecutive years. Pretty impressive!

I would like to layer with accessories on top of a black tee. Here is a quick snapshot:

And here is a quick snapshot of what I was thinking of: to layer with accessories on top of a black tee, wear rings with fingerless gloves, and actually, I will also be wearing over-the-knee leather boots! Va-va-voom!
I'm going to show you the evil necklaces, the mask I have re-painted to look even more evil, a headband with '666', and a red band, with a painted on Sigil of  Baphomet, to be used as a belt. Scary!

Scared yet?

luxe box by loose button / october edition / review

A few days ago I have received the October Edition Luxe Box by Loose Button, a monthly surprise beauty box subscription service similar to Birchbox and Glymm. I was excited to open it up as it's my very first Luxe Box. And I must say that... I was very impressed! Luxe Box is well designed and branded to be elegant, sophisticated, and trendy. I am a sucker for beautiful packaging (I design for a living)! In fact, the box with its sliding cover can be re-used as a jewelry box or who knows! A+

By subscribing to a monthly service, costing you $10/month, you will receive a carefully curated box of 4-5 beauty samples from Canadian and International luxury brands. You may also collect points by reviewing the products on Glymm.com, and redeem the points for more products and such!

Glymm truly delivers! The service is superb - my boxes come on time, the products are great, sometimes even full size, making the $10 monthly fee well worth it! A very good deal!

Face of The Day / October 15 / Natural Fall Look

Here is a look I've done a few days ago using BonneBell Cafe Classics (retails for less than $5). The end result is natural and fresh! No eyeliner nor mascara...but a hint of sheer moisturizing lipstick. Now that it's cold and windy, I am wearing a lot more moisturizer (with SPF 15) to protect my skin from drying out. And after applying moisturizer, I wait about 5-10 minutes before I apply a primer. For this post, I decided to try Lise Watier Base Miracle which is quite good! I will soon review the products I've used in this look.

I am wearing:
  • Clinique Even Better Moisturizer
  • Lise Watier Base Miracle
  • Physicians Formula Gentle Cover Concealer Stick in Light
  • Diorskin Nude in 010
  • BonneBell Cafe Classics
  • timeBalm Concealer in Light
  • Body Shop blush in Petal
  • Clinique Long Last Lipstick in Pink Spice

Product Review: MoroccanOil - The Original - Hair Treatment

MoroccanOil, the original, is a hair serum that contains Argan oil and silicones. One of my stylists recommended it to me, and after trying all kind of serums, I've finally decided to splurge on a set for $52 CAD. *only one item in the set is shown

The original MoroccanOil treatment serum is supposed to instantly absorb into hair to create a beautiful shine and long term conditioning.

PROS:
  • Smells amazing
  • Multi-tasking
  • Long-lasting
  • Hair becomes easier to style
  • Revives hair—yes! and does wonderful things to my split ends
  • Strengthens and conditions—my chemically processed hair feel and look less damaged
  • Reduces drying time—and works best with a hot air blow-dryer
  • Leaves hair lightweight and silky—and shiny without the greasy feeling
CONS:
  • Expensive
  • Some bottles don't have pumps
It's important to remember to use as little as possible—one or two drops is usually enough, although it also depends on the length/amount of hair and the damage. My hair is extremely damaged, long, and thick, requiring at least 3-4 dime-sized drops of this serum. I start from the ends, working my way up, and avoiding the hair closest to the scalp/roots (if you have oily scalp). MoroccanOil is very versatile as it can be used on towel dried hair, after blow-drying, and after flat-ironing.

Quality: 5/5
Value: 4/5

Packaging: 3/5
Lasting Power: 4/5
Price: $$$$

Overall: 4/5

Would I buy it again? Yes! If I find a good deal.
